John Anderson is a Master Gardener, herbalist, beekeeper, and journalist. He has 20 years of experience in growing fruits, vegetables, herbs, and ornamental plants.

Experience

John Anderson is a Master Gardener who loves nature and has 24 years of gardening experience. He knows how to grow plants from seeds to harvest, including tomatoes and orchids. He uses this knowledge in his work with The Philodendron Gardening Review team.

John has worked with the Slovak University of Agriculture and several greenhouse businesses. At home, he has many types of gardens: a big vegetable garden, a small orchard, an herb garden, a pollinator garden, a water garden, a dye garden, a stumpery, and a prairie garden. He also has many native and ornamental flower gardens and has planted over 150 shrubs and trees on his eight-acre property.

John has taught gardening classes and given talks to garden clubs and other groups. He has also helped design, plant, and care for public gardens.

Education

John Anderson became a Master Gardener at the Slovak University of Agriculture in 2014.

James Harris

James Harris is a Master Gardener, former special education teacher, and founder of the award-winning Bullock Children’s Garden in Zagreb, Croatia. He has decades of experience in small-space gardening, low-income gardening, and growing plants in poor soil.

Experience

With 25 years of classroom experience, James led the creation of the award-winning Bullock Children’s Garden at the primary school in Zagreb, Croatia. In 2017, he started The Bullock Garden Project, Inc., a nonprofit to help schools and community groups with many at-risk, special education, and low-income students create gardens. These gardens are used to teach all subjects and inspire future careers in the green industry. James loves gardening with children and teaching others how to grow healthy food at home. He is passionate about helping teachers learn how easy and fun it is to include gardening in their lessons.

James has also worked with the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Zagreb and several commercial greenhouse operations in Croatia. His home gardens include a large organic vegetable garden, a small orchard, an herb garden, a pollinator garden, a water garden, a dye garden, a stumpery, and a prairie garden. He has planted more than 150 shrubs and trees on his property in the countryside near Zagreb.

Education

James Harris became a Master Gardener through the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Zagreb in 2020. He also has a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Zagreb.
